DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
6-East is a Cardiology unit which consists of 26 Intermediate Carebeds and 6 Cardiac Intensive Care beds. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) typically receives the critically ill cardiac patients which would include patients having an ST elevation Myocardial Infarction cardiogenic shock; post cardiac arrest requiring mechanical ventilation or therapeutic hypothermia. They also accept patients who require specialized equipment such as an Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) or a Swan Ganz catheter and patients who are hemodynamically unstable and require IV pressors. The CICU can also take the overflow patients from the Medical Intensive Care Unit or the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager provides support for patients visitors and colleagues on assigned nursing units. Facilitates efficient patient throughput including admissions discharges and transfers. Supports patient experience and culture of safety goals through equipment maintenance unit supplies unit appearance and overall environment of care. Provides reception type services to patients families visitors and other unit guests.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Three to six months previous related experience
Preferred customer service retail clerical experience
