Position Summary: The Remote Payroll Clerk will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. This position requires strong attention to detail confidentiality and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll systems a solid understanding of payroll regulations and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll in accordance with federal state and local regulations
Collect verify and input employee timekeeping data deductions commissions and bonuses
Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Maintain and update payroll records and employee information in the HRIS/payroll system
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues wage calculations and deductions
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure consistent compliant and accurate data flow
Prepare payroll-related reports for management and auditing purposes
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations affecting the company
Ensure confidentiality and security of all payroll information and employee data
Assist with year-end processes including W-2 and other tax-related filings
Support additional administrative or payroll tasks as required
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience preferably in a remote or distributed team environment
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g. ADP Paychex QuickBooks Payroll or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook)
Strong understanding of payroll principles wage and hour laws and tax regulations
Exceptional attention to detail accuracy and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
Effective communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to work independently meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with multi-state payrolls
Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll platforms
Prior experience in a remote work environment
