Job Summary

Des Moines Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the 26-27 school year to serve as a Digital Learning Teacher. This position will start in August 2026. Required:

  1. Valid Iowa teaching license (any K-6 endorsement).

Desired:

  1. Previous classroom teaching experience.
  2. Experiencewith digital learning platforms and blended learning models

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Digital Learning Teacher serves as a key instructional leader in advancing digital literacy andinnovative learning across the district. This role provides direct instruction to students in digital literacyskills ensuring alignment with and support for the DMPS-wide digital literacy curriculum. The educatorcollaborates closely with classroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach lessons that integrate technologyin pedagogically sound ways fostering personalized and blended learning experiences. The DigitalLearning Teacher also partners with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and DMPS technologydepartment to address building-level technology needs that support instruction ensuring a seamlessand effective digital learning environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Deliver direct instruction in information literacy and digital literacy skills aligned with district standards including supporting and modeling the DMPS digital literacy curriculum.
  2. Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into instruction in ways that enhance learning outcomes and reflect best practices in pedagogy.
  3. Co-plan and co-teach lessons that incorporate digital tools for personalized and blended learning experiences.
  4. Support teachers in selecting and implementing appropriate digital resources and instructionaltechnologies.
  5. Promote responsible digital citizenship and ethical technology use among students and staff.
  6. Provide coaching and professional development on technology integration and digital literacy practices.
  7. Coordinate with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and technology department on building level technology needs ensuring classroom learning environments remain ready for instruction.
  8. Demonstrate progress toward meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards while modeling innovativeinstructional practices

  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

BARGAINING AGREEMENT:DMEA

FLSA STATUS:Exempt

FT/PT:Full Time (7.75 hour day)(Contract days vary by assignment)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Standing walking sitting bending/stooping reaching/pushing/pulling lifting carrying

WORKING CONDITIONS:Mostly indoors with some outdoor responsibilities during recess and arrival/dismissal
