Job Summary

SUMMARY:

The Building-Based Elementary Teacher reports to the Principal and/or other designated supervisor and works according to the approved school calendar. This position serves as a full-time member of the instructional staff providing consistent high-quality instruction across classrooms as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold proper Missouri state certification in Elementary or Early Childhood Education

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implement instructional plans that support district curriculum and student learning goals across assigned classrooms.

  2. Deliver effective standards-based instruction using a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

  3. Maintain continuity of learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

  4. Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

  5. Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning including clear expectations for student behavior.

  6. Maintain accurate and complete records as required (e.g. attendance student progress).

  7. Collaborate effectively with grade-level teams specialists and support staff.

  8. Utilize available instructional resources and technology to enhance student learning.

  9. Support the implementation of district and building-level initiatives.

  10. When not assigned to a classroom provide instructional support to students and staff including small group instruction and targeted interventions.

  11. Participate in school safety drills and follow all safety procedures.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
  2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  4. Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
