Job Summary

Assistant Manager (Marketing and Events) (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Communications and Public Affairs Office of the Registry(Ref.: 534577)

The Communications and Public Affairs Office (CPAO) of the Registry of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) enhances HKUs reputation through branding events digital communications media relations and more. The office is also responsible for University events and ceremonies publications both external and internal communications crisis management and community engagement. We are looking for talented candidates to join the team.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Assistant Manager (Marketing and Events) you will:

  • Support the Assistant Director and Senior Manager in the effective development and implementation of marketing and community engagement activities;
  • Plan co-ordinate and manage various kinds of ceremonial and public activities to promote the Universitys image;
  • Develop and execute the publicity plans for various activities of the University;
  • Engage both internal and external parties in developing marketing materials including brochures booklets invitations events video highlights onsite decoration etc.;
  • Plan and coordinate project schedules manage procurement processes to commission third-party service providers for various University initiatives;
  • Oversee and manage third-party filming on campus; and
  • Support office and University activities which may require occasional work outside regular office hours.

Qualifications and Qualities:

We are seeking a motivated individual who possesses the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelors degree;
  • At least five years experience in events management marketing and hospitality; experience in supervising junior staff is an advantage;
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English Chinese and Putonghua;
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Proficient in web technologies knowledge about social media platform trends and skilled in data analytics for marketing; knowledge of multimedia graphic design and video-editing tools is a plus;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for collaborating with internal faculties and vendors;
  • Proven ability to handle VIPs would be an advantage;
  • Ability to manage fast-paced projects multitask and meet deadlines through effective prioritisation and planning;
  • Detail-oriented self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure;
  • Strong values of integrity teamwork and commitment to providing excellent service;
  • Experience in working in the higher education and service sectors is a bonus; and
  • Willingness to work outside of regular work hours and be on duty as required.

What We Offer:

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of the basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
