TheWilderness Camp Leader is a vital member of our summer team providing directsupervision and leading engaging outdoor activities. Under the guidance of theSite Supervisor this role ensures a safe structured and adventurousenvironment while fostering respect for nature and one another.
Responsibilities
Providedirect supervision to campers (K5th grade) ensuring safety at all times
Plan andlead outdoor activities such as hiking nature exploration team challengesand environmental education
Teach basicoutdoor skills and promote environmental awareness
Maintain andorganize outdoor equipment and program supplies
Follow YMCApolicies and safety procedures
Buildpositive relationships with campers and families
Model YMCAcore values: caring honesty respect and responsibility
Qualifications
Experienceworking with school-age children
Backgroundin outdoor education environmental science recreation or related fieldpreferred
Knowledge ofoutdoor safety practices and risk management
Strongleadership and group management skills
Energeticresponsible and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
