Waltham Public Schools is looking to hire an HVAC-R technician with a minimum of 5-years work experience to teach students at the new Waltham High School. HVACR TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must hold the appropriate Chapter 74 teaching license from theMassachusetts Department of Elementary and SecondaryEducation orbe eligible to obtain such a license.
Requirements to obtain:
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to HVAC/R
- Passing score of at least 70% on each of the written and performance exam for HVAC/R
- Possession of a current Section EPA 608 certification at the universal level
- Achieve a passing score of either CTE Literacy Skills or Communication and Literacy Skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to work with students staff administrators parents and the public in creating an atmosphere where individuals feel welcome and respected.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be comfortable using computers and software.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:Director of Career and Technical Education
JOB GOAL:To develop in each pupil an awareness and understanding coupled with the basic skills and knowledge applicable to HVACR in business or public sector; and to instill in each pupil safe working habits the importance of continuation of his/her education and the assets of reliability competence loyalty and dependability.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust smoke fumes and gases.
