Minuteman High School is seeking a qualified Drama Club Advisor for the school year. This is a stipend position with responsibilities and compensation detailed below.
Major Responsibilities:- Provide daily announcements for organizational meetings.
- Hold organizational meetings.
- Create Drama Club membership list based on student information sheet (actors and backstage).
- Create Acting Workshop schedule.
- Run Drama Club acting workshops.
- Organize audition materials.
- Organize field trip to attend METG workshops in December (parents forms and communication with Nurse Assistant Deans office and METG coordinator).
- Continue to purchase/read plays for potential productions.
- Select play for spring production.
- Acquire plays for cast members.
- Acquire Rights for each performance.
- Drive/chaperone METG field trip to West Bridgewater State University.
- Run auditions (2-3 days).
- Cast the play.
- Assign lead student roles: Directors Assistant(s) Stage Manager etc.
- Create/Post/adjust detailed rehearsal schedules (usually two-three).
- Run rehearsals (four days per week).
- Create/convey all blocking for play.
- Create set design.
- Oversee/coordinate set design with Carpentry Instructor (provide deadlines).
- Coordinate/Purchase set materials from The Home Depot with input of Carpentry Instructor.
- Organize a set decoration day (usually one-two Saturdays in March).
- Develop Program Design/Poster including Dear Patron write-up.
- Coordinate Program/Poster design with Drama Club Assistant and DVC.
- Secure/monitor POs through business office.
- Coordinate and purchase costumes/props/furniture/make-up with input from Drama Club Assistant.
- Maintain Drama Club budget with no overruns.
- Maintain proper communication with Drama Club Assistant maintenance building scheduler and with Carpentry Cosmetology and DVC instructors etc.
- Oversee/develop lighting/sound effects needs.
- Collect/safe keep/deposit all ticket sales.
- Complete all deposit forms in a timely fashion.
- Create write-ups for newsletters/newspaper.
- Responsible for all aspects of all rehearsals and all performances.
- Oversee all club funds including deposits and disbursements.
- Organize year-ending Drama Club field trip (parents forms communication with nurse Assistant Deans office bus company and site coordinator).
- Chaperone year-ending field trip.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Complete an approved Program of Work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Demonstrated ability to interact with students teachers parents and staff.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:- This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public walking around the school standing for periods occasionally lifting and carrying items reading documents using a computer listening and speaking using office equipment maintaining energy throughout the day and handling stress effectively.
Terms of Employment:Effective Dates of Employment:- This is a stipend position for the 2026-2027 school year (July 1 2026 June 30 2027).
Supervisor:Compensation:- The stipend for this position is $7897.
