TheMaxwell Underground Mine owned byMalabar Resources Ltdhas commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site with production projected of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life the underground mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To support our continued growth and operational success we are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join our team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion for the mining industry and bring a strong track record of performance within an underground coal mining environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic operation while playing a key role in supporting safe efficient and productive mining activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct underground mapping face sampling and structural interpretation to support production activities.
  • Advise on coal quality and grade control to minimise mine dilution.
  • Assist with geological modelling coal quality control and reconciliation.
  • Monitor strata conditions and contribute to strata control and geotechnical integration.
  • Support mine design and planning through accurate geological data interpretation.
  • Maintain geological databases records and reporting systems.
  • Provide relevant geological input in risk assessments and provide timely advice to operational teams.
  • Liaise closely with mining and technical teams to optimise resource recovery and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to mining and exploration projects across multiple sites.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bachelors degree in Geology Earth Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in underground coal mining geology (longwall experience and/or bord and pillar preferred).
  • Recent Graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency with geological modelling and data software desirable (e.g. AutoCAD Vulcan Minex or equivalent).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Order 43 medical including drug and alcohol.
