The roles essential function is to receive inquiries from the public in a practical gentle and non-judgmental manner solving their problems practically or ensuring that the request is passed on to the appropriate resource person either internal or specific duties:Greet and interact with all public in a welcoming and open mannerDirect public through to appropriate areas of the Animal CentreAnswers all telephone inquiries and direct callers to appropriate resourcesMaintain office records accurately as directed by the supervisorEnsure a satisfactory level of response to all relevant needs and inquires balancing the priorities at high traffic timesTo honestly and accurately receive monies on behalf of the Shelter/center in accordance with Shelter proceduresAccept donations and provide information on acceptable and needed itemsProcess all financial donations ensuring that the individual receives an accurate receiptCash handling including preparation of daily cash for deposit and daily batch outEnsure that the reception area is kept neat and tidy at all timesMaintain standards in order to portray to the public the image of the SPCA as a compassionate and caring other duties as assigned by the Animal Centre managerQualifications you need to have:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1-2 years experience in a receptionist role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employerKnowledge of the geography of the Animal Centres warrant area in general and the Shelters warrant area in particularPhilosophical harmony with BC SPCA policies programs and protocolsSound knowledge/ability to learn routine office practice and proceduresKnowledge of domestic animals their breeds characteristics and common diseases is an assetExcellent customer service skills; clear communicator with the ability to assist public in a positive and confident mannerSelf-started and able to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to work under pressure while prioritizing tasks upon timeNimble and willing attitude and work ethicExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent computer skills sufficient to deal effectively with the necessary front office routines To perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the harmony with the vision mission and strategic directions of the BC to apply:If you are interested in joining our team and are legally entitled to work in Canada we would like to hear from you.
