IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR-Associate Principal
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM- Building administrators district leadership
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION-The purpose of the Job Coach position is to provide individual or small group assistance to persons with disabilities to develop employability skills including seeking and maintaining employment and providing support on the job site.

QUALIFICATIONS-

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to work with persons with disabilities on a daily basis.
- Able to react quickly and calmly in an emergency.
- Knowledge of IEP procedures and paperwork.
- Knowledge of how to use assistive equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.
- Ability to communicate effectively demonstrate patience and model appropriate behaviors to persons with disabilities.
- Work with individuals towards individualized education plan goals.
- Ability to explain and participate in daily activities.
- Must be able to interact in a positive manner with students faculty parents community members and other staff members.
- Must willing and be able to drive school vehicle with UHS students.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Experience working with children/adults with disabilities.
Equipment
- Office equipment such as cell phone multi-line phone system fax machines copiers and computers.
- Assistive equipments such as wheelchairs and walkers.
- Be able to operate a district vehicle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Accompany students with disabilities throughout the school day and on community-based trips to work experiences focused on living learning and working.
- Provide instructional assistance to students to build essential skills to obtain and maintain employability.
- Seek job shadowing opportunities with employers. These opportunities would be driven from student interested.
- Provide assistance at job sites which may include working with employers to understand jobs create tasks cards for students and teach them how to perform their job at employer.
- Be familliar with physical and/or occupational therapy equipment where appropriate aid student with guidance from education agency therapists.
- Assist students with self-care needs when appropriate.
- Attend professional training as necessary for the position.
- Assist with programs the teacher has created for educational purposes.
- Report incidents of any unusual nature to the teacher and principal.
- Perform clerical tasks such as making phone calls filing and maintaining student records.
- Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures for building and classroom.
- Be able to transport students in school vehicle.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS-
- None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-
Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.
Ability to transfer students as needed.
Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement.
Ability to work while standing moving and/or walking.
Drug tobacco and alcohol-free while working.
Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS-
Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
Occasional meetings outside the school day.
Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
