Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The Provincial Nursing Practice Lead is a provincial leadership role that reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). This position serves as a role model in the development of organizational culture and support of the values of Shared Health. This position has significant influence on the scope of practice of the nursing discipline and is accountable for providing guidance and direction on nursing expertise and provincial practice leadership. The lead is responsible for informing opportunities to promote full scope of practice in nursing and provides advice around models of care and skill mix. This position strategizes processes to support interprofessional collaboration and multifaceted teams and demonstrates effective collaboration within daily interactions. This position is accountable for developing reviewing integrating implementing and evaluating provincial initiatives including practice changes standards and policies in support of the vision mission and business plan of Shared Services. This position represents the nursing discipline on a provincial level and provides support and expert counsel to Senior Leaders across the province including aspects of nursing practice. The lead works collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders and role models solution focused communication.
The Provincial Nursing Practice lead develops and maintains strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and relies on awareness of the broad provincial context in order to provide expert guidance and leadership throughout the organization. This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key local provincial and national representatives and health care stakeholders including regulatory bodies professional associations and post-secondary institutions.
The Provincial Nursing Practice lead may also be asked to provide support and direction in relation to various clinical initiatives across the province. Project support includes writing briefs and reports compiling and analyzing data conducting literature searches and inter-jurisdictional scans. The lead will also provide support or leadership to key committees analyzing and synthesizing information and developing recommendations for implementation.
