We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to support the safe and effective execution of LNSS activities on the Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension (HVC MLE) Project. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager and works closely with project leadership supervisors employees subcontractors and client representatives to help ensure safe project performance and strong health and safety compliance across site operations.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Lead is responsible for supporting day-to-day field health and safety activities to promote the safe efficient and successful execution of LNSS project work in support of the HVC MLE Project. This role works closely with site leadership and field teams to verify that work is being carried out in accordance with applicable safety requirements company standards and project expectations.
The ideal candidate brings strong field-based health and safety experience in construction industrial or heavy civil environments along with the ability to provide practical support coaching and direction to supervisors workers and contractors. This role plays an important part in reinforcing a positive safety culture supporting safe work planning following up on corrective actions and escalating key issues where appropriate.

You are organized calm under pressure and confident communicating with workers subcontractors project leaders and clients. You take a practical approach to problem-solving coach others effectively and are comfortable escalating significant risks or concerns when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader by promoting and enforcing health safety and environmental rules procedures and company standards
- Support Construction Project and Site Leadership in delivering safe project execution and strong field safety performance
- Provide day-to-day leadership coaching and direction to site-based health and safety personnel as applicable
- Attend daily weekly and look-ahead planning meetings to support safe work planning and hazard identification
- Conduct and review field inspections observations and audits to verify compliance with company client and regulatory requirements
- Ensure safeguards controls and corrective actions identified through inspections observations incidents or near misses are tracked and completed
- Review daily and weekly safety reporting for accuracy quality and completion and provide summaries to project and safety leadership as required
- Support and participate in incident near miss and safety event investigations including follow-up and documentation
- Promote and positively reinforce Stop Work Authority hazard reporting safe work planning and proactive field engagement
- Support emergency preparedness activities response planning and participation in site emergency response drills
- Maintain regular communication with the Health & Safety Manager Project Team supervisors and field crews
- Coach employees and subcontractors in identifying hazards and implementing practical solutions that support safe production
- Participate in client internal and regulatory inspections or audits as required
- Ensure safety documentation records and system entries are completed accurately and promptly using applicable company and project platforms
- Step into field safety coverage as needed to support operations and project requirements
- Support other duties and responsibilities as required to contribute to the success of the company and its projects
Experience Required
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a health and safety role within construction civil mining or industrial operations
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership lead hand or supervisory experience in a field-based safety environment
- Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation safe work practices incident investigation and field-level risk management
- Experience supporting active field operations with multiple crews subcontractors and competing priorities
- Experience leading inspections observations investigations corrective action follow-up and safety reporting
- Experience working with client-driven safety systems contractor management requirements and project documentation
- Professional designation such as CRSP NCSO CSO or equivalent is preferred
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence and acceptable drivers abstract required
- Must be eligible to work in Canada

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management systems such as SiteDocs ComplyWorks Avetta ISNetworld or similar platforms
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative project team
Safety Requirements
- Worker must supply basic PPE including boots hardhat high-visibility apparel and safety glasses
- Additional or specialized PPE will be provided as required by company or project standards
- Drug and alcohol testing may be required in accordance with company client or project requirements
- Must participate fully in all required safety meetings inspections hazard assessments and safe work planning activities
- Current first aid and other industry-recognized safety certifications are considered assets
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position is primarily site-based and works outdoors and in active field environments the majority of the time. Working conditions may include exposure to hot or cold temperatures wind precipitation mud dust uneven ground and moving equipment.
The role requires regular standing walking climbing bending kneeling reaching and travel between work areas.
Requires flexibility in responding to project schedules operational demands and occasional extended work hours.
