Shape Transaction Services in a complex high-volume environment while developing a valued team and driving process improvement. The Manager Transaction Finance will champion and uplift a high volume transactional finance function. Nurture and develop a capable valued and supported team. About the role and division

The Finance function at AEMO provides a key foundation to ensuring sound financial decision making by AEMO leadership and is critical to AEMO maintaining strong support from stakeholders for its mission by ensuring the robustness of information underpinning revenue cost management and funding requests.

You will manage the Transaction Services team to deliver high-quality finance transactional services across core processes requiring strong business engagement. The role drives transactional excellence across payroll accounts payable accounts receivable and corporate card and expense management.

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused champion who is passionate about nurturing and developing teams. You will bring a collaborative and supportive leadership style creating an environment where individuals feel valued trusted and confident in their roles. With a strong focus on coaching mentoring and continuous improvement you will uplift team capability and processes. You will bring proven experience contributing to the broader Finance Operations leadership cohort and representing Transaction Services across the business.

The position reports into an empowering and people-focused leader who encourages autonomy while providing strong coaching mentorship and support to help the team navigate priorities. With a clear emphasis on engagement and development they are committed to building a connected high-performing team.

This is a Melbourne based position.

What you will be doing

  • Guide a team of 810 across core transactional finance processes (AP AR payroll credit cards and expenses)
  • Manage daily AP/AR operations to ensure accuracy timeliness and strong cash flow outcomes
  • Oversee payroll including approvals and business continuity planning
  • Support month-end activities including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Partner with Finance and key business teams to deliver responsive high-quality services
  • Strengthen controls processes and use of finance systems/data to drive continuous improvement and insight.

The role operates in a highly complex BAU and deadline-driven environment requiring a hands-on efficiency-focused champion who is comfortable working alongside peers at the same leadership level with Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred and a background in large complex high-volume transactional settings (e.g. regulated or audit-intensive environments) and a strong drive to uplift procedures and leverage data to improve performance.

What you will bring to the role

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline
  • Beneficial to also be a member of an appropriate professional accounting body e.g. CA/CPA or international equivalent.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in transactional finance within a complex organisation
  • Proven team enablement across coaching mentoring development and performance management
  • Strong knowledge of payroll accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • High attention to detail with clear professional communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and/or process improvement highly regarded.
