Ravenscroft School is seeking an Assistant Head of Lower School for Student Life to serve as a senior leader responsible for shaping a joyful inclusive and developmentally responsive student experience for our youngest learners. This is a full-time exempt leadership position following the academic calendar.
This role is ideal for a relational and strategic educator who is passionate about student well-being belonging community culture and faculty partnership. The Assistant Head of Lower School for Student Affairs plays a central role in daily division lifesupporting students families and faculty while ensuring alignment with Ravenscrofts mission values and Lead From Here framework.
Reports to: Head of Lower School
Supervisory Responsibilities: None (provides coaching and evaluative support to faculty)
What Youll Do
- Provide leadership for all aspects of the Lower School student experience including belonging wellness community culture and behavioral expectations
- Partner with the Head of Lower School to set and implement a vision for student life aligned with school-wide mission values and developmental best practices
- Embed the Lead From Here framework into daily routines programming and student life structures
- Coordinate and lead student behavior support including restorative practices and Honor Code expectations
- Serve on the Lower School Student Assistance Team to support students academic social and behavioral needs
- Collaborate closely with school counselors learning specialists and leadership on proactive and responsive student support
- Support and mentor faculty through coaching observation and participation in the Faculty Growth & Evaluation process
- Partner with the Head and Assistant Head of Lower School for Student Learning to align academic expectations and student well-being
- Assist with daily operations including scheduling calendar coordination arrival and dismissal routines events and announcements
- Oversee student-facing programs such as Safety Assistants Buddy Teachers and new student transitions
- Collaborate with Auxiliary Programs to ensure a cohesive student experience
- Assist with handbook and policy review to ensure clarity consistency and developmental appropriateness
- Partner with Admissions on enrollment placement conversations and retention efforts
- Participate in faculty and staff hiring processes
- Serve on school-wide committees including Admissions Student Life Faculty Growth & Evaluation and Retention
- Communicate with families with empathy professionalism and a service-oriented approach
- Maintain a visible and accessible presence throughout the Lower School
- Plan and facilitate division meetings that balance information-sharing professional learning and community building
- Support the broader school community by attending co-curricular events

Qualifications
Required:
- Advanced degree in education (Lower School focus preferred)
- Minimum of three to five (35) years of Lower School teaching experience
- Deep understanding of child development (PK5)
- Strong communication organizational and leadership skills
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity inclusion and belonging
- Alignment with Ravenscrofts mission and Portrait of an Educator
Preferred:
- Experience in an independent school setting
- Experience with restorative practices belonging work faculty evaluation and student support systems
- Proven success coaching and mentoring educators
- Familiarity with data-informed decision-making and student culture metrics
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and best practices
- Comfortable using technology and digital tools for communication and engagement
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This role is based on Ravenscrofts campus and requires frequent interaction with students faculty and families. The position involves regular movement throughout the campus prolonged periods of standing and walking and routine use of technology. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are expected for events and meetings. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
