The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for pre-registering patients into the health information system by obtaining appropriate information from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to process complete demographic and other visit related information. Responsibilities also include interacting with patients patient family members/visitors providers and other team members.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-year previous experience in customer service.
- 1-year previous experience in general clerical office or administrative duties experience or applicable classwork may be substituted.
Skill Requirements
- Must possess written and verbal communication skills.
- HIPAA appropriately manages Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Able to meet physical and mental requirements of position in fast-paced complex acute care setting.
- Annual education and competencies as required per hospital certifications.
