An established and growing cable manufacturing company is offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join its production and maintenance team. As a key member of the maintenance department you will play an essential role in keeping high-volume production lines running reliably. This includes cable cutting stripping crimping moulding and winding equipment. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Fault Finding
- Attend to mechanical breakdowns quickly to reduce downtime.
- Diagnose faults on cable processing machinery including cutting stripping crimping and moulding equipment.
- Perform repairs adjustments and component replacements to restore optimal functioning.
Planned Maintenance
- Execute preventative maintenance schedules on all production machinery.
- Inspect mechanical components identify wear patterns and prevent recurring failures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment issues proactively.
Machine Setup & Operational Support
- Assist with machine setups tool changes and production changeovers.
- Align and calibrate mechanical tooling crimp applicators and fixtures.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment operates within required tolerances.
Technical and Workshop Duties
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components used in machinery.
- Conduct minor fabrication fitting and alignment tasks where required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all OHSA and company safety procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to lock-out procedures.
- Maintain a clean safe and organised working environment.
Minimum Requirements
- N3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Recognised Trade Test: Mechanical Fitter.
- Minimum 3 years mechanical fitting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with cable wiring harness or high-volume production machinery (advantageous).
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work shifts overtime and standby as needed.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret technical specifications.
