Position Summary

The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for fostering a creative inclusive and academically rigorous environment where students can explore a wide range of artistic mediums and historical this charter school setting the educator will design and implement a standards-based visual arts curriculum that encourages critical thinking self-expression and cross-curricular connections. The ideal candidate is a collaborative professional committed to the schools unique mission capable of managing a vibrant studio space and dedicated to showcasing student achievement through school-wide exhibitions.

Essential Functions

  • Curriculum & Instruction:Develop and deliver age-appropriate art lessons that cover the elements of art principles of design and art history while aligning with state and national standards. Support 3rd 4th and 5th graders in STEAM-related projects that focus on the Colorado Standards being learned in the classroom in Reading Math and Science.
  • Student Engagement:Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners ensuring that the art room is an accessible and supportive environment for every student.
  • Studio Management:Oversee the procurement organization and safe maintenance of all art supplies tools and equipment within an established budget.
  • Assessment & Feedback:Implement varied assessment strategies to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback that encourages artistic growth.
  • Exhibition & Culture:Coordinate and curate student art displays throughout the school campus and organize annual art shows or community gallery events.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with grade-level teams to integrate art into other subject areas (e.g. Science History or Literacy) to deepen student understanding.
  • Professionalism:Participate in faculty meetings professional development and school community events in accordance with the charters operational calendar.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Art Education Fine Arts or a related field.
  • Certification preferred:Valid State Teaching Credential in Visual Arts or ability to obtain.
  • Experience:Previous experience teaching art at the elementary level preferably within a charter or urban school setting.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in a variety of artistic techniques (e.g. ceramics painting digital media) and familiarity with classroom management software.
  • Communication:Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with students parents and administration.
