Job Summary

To work with members and help with their financial difficulties analyze each collection scenario to ensure maximum benefit to both the member and the credit union while either eliminating minimizing or mitigating loss by effective real estate collection practices. The Mortgage Collection Specialist Jr is responsible for real estate collections (CRE & Mortgage) modification and loss mitigation servicing and foreclosure of real property. Minimize exposure to loss to Credit Union and ensure maximum return to Credit Union members. Provide member service by responding to member requests pursuant to Federal Lending Regulations Investor The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Credit Union policy and procedure.

Essential Functions

  • Mortgage/CRE Loan Collections: Mortgage Insurance loss mitigation and servicing guidelines. Adhere to the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) requirements and timelines for responding to member loan modification payoff requests. Document compliance of such actions.
  • Real Estate Owned Monitoring: Ensure Foreclosures are maintained taxes paid and insurance added etc. Work with realtors during sale prior to OREO GL transfer.
  • Mortgage Insurance Filing and Monitoring: Ensure proper reporting and claim filing using proper timelines. Ensure Accuracy of reporting.
  • Foreclosures: Recommend defaulted real estate loans for foreclosure. Ensure all State and Federal laws are followed through the process. Coordinate foreclosures with Ent Attorney for any needed information or documents. Continue attempts at out-reach and property inspections per guidelines.
  • Administrative Duties: Prepare complete and follow through with necessary paperwork related to real estate collections and loss mitigation.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize existing and new technology and processs.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications :

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

 

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • 2 years combined financial institution experience in customer service lending or collections to include: Required
  • 1 years Mortgage / Real Estate Servicing or collections experience Required


Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

 

 

  • Ability to be professional diplomatic and courteous while communicating critical importance with an emphasis on the ability to confront others in a calm and diplomatic manner without invoking significant stress or inflaming already hostile situations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook Excel Word etc.) and web based transactional systems to complete day to day member requests and collection software systems.
  • Knowledge of VA FNMA FHA FHLB GNMA.
  • (preferred) Knowledge of and the ability to quickly learn and retain new information relevant to collection law bankruptcy law and credit reporting including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act Fact Act FCRA Gramm Leach Bliley FDCPA CFPB State and Federal Collection Law

Additional Information :

The pay range for this position is: Target Offer Rates (Standard Range) $48589 to $53705 Annually ($23 to $26per Hour (S12).

Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience specific skills and competencies education certifications location and internal pay equity.

This position is eligible for a monthly incentive plan.
