Job Summary

Description

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program Manager plays a central role in advancing TRUs HorAIzon initiative a university-wide initiative that aims to strengthen TRUs leadership in applied and responsible AI. The AI Program Manager will be responsible for building a unified skills-based approach to AI learning across the institution. To accomplish this they will work with key partners such as CELT the Library IT P&C IPE and more to design coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive pan institutional program that supports campus.

This position provides both strategic leadership and hands-on program management. The AI Program Manager is responsible for transforming the current strategy outline developing a multilayered scaffolding model for AI learning and fostering community-driven learning opportunities that build confidence capability and responsible AI practice across TRU.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Project and Change Management

  • Responsible for the implementation plan for assigned AI initiatives ensuring timelines deliverables and performance indicators are met.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable project plans with clear sequencing scope and resource requirements.
  • Monitor progress identify risks and adapt plans as necessary.
  • Offer coaching facilitation and communication to support organizational readiness and change adoption.


Strategic AI Program Design and Leadership

  • Enhance the current AI workshops and training programs into a comprehensive scalable plan aligned to TRU HorAIzon.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to design build and land a pan-institutional AI learning approach that is impactful and increases TRU communitys comfort with AI.
  • Support TRU HorAIzon leadership by conducting environmental scanning and best practice analysis to inform AI program development


Expand AI Capacity on Campus

  • Collaborate with key partners to design and implement a robust suite of learning programs including (and not limited to):
    • Foundational and advanced AI capability pathways.
    • Peer to peer learning models.
    • Community office hours.
  • Identify creative ways to support and scale AI learning both by leveraging existing tools and services and making recommendations on new resources for campus.
  • Partner with the Library to continue growing The Collaboratory into a vibrant space of safe AI experimentation and learning


Partnership Coordination and Engagement

  • Coordinate AI learning efforts across campus units to help remove duplication and improve efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with academic and administrative units on campus to understand needs priorities and emerging opportunities.
  • Establish metrics success indicators and ongoing evaluation mechanisms for AI learning and development programs.
  • Engage cross institutional stakeholders to ensure broad participation and adoption of AI.


Community Building and Communication

  • Build a culture of curiosity responsible experimentation and continuous learning around AI.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote AI learning and development initiatives.
  • Facilitate community conversations and feedback loops to keep AI programming relevant and responsive.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Education and Experience

  • Masters degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis on project management.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with program management project management or management consulting.
  • Interest in AI and a willingness to learn about AI tools required; experience working with AI is an asset.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build community and trust across people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong project management capabilities including planning organizing problem solving and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience developing coordinating and facilitating training programs.
  • Ability to collect and synthesize information and present insights clearly.
  • Ability to navigate complex academic environments and build collaborative relationships.
  • Creative resourceful and able to leverage existing systems to deliver innovative learning solutions.
