General Accountability:
The VP & CFO Wealth and Asset Management Asia is responsible for the financial accounting management reporting planning forecasting and analysis internal controls over financial reporting pricing and regulatory capital requirements for the retail retirement and institutional asset management across Asia. The incumbent will be accountable for financial due diligence and transaction structuring on new acquisitions and transactions and will be a key member of the Asia Wealth and Asset Management Executive Team. The Finance Lead will also be looked upon to provide value-add strategic financial reporting and analysis in support of this business and is considered a trusted business advisor to the Head of WAM Asia. The primary reporting line for this role is to the CFO Global Wealth and Asset Management with secondary reporting lines to the Head of Wealth and Asset Management Asia. This role will have direct accountability for the Asia WAM finance teams including regional and country finance teams FP&A and dual accountability for Regional A&R.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Head of Asia Wealth and Asset Management with respect to all functions reporting to the incumbent and other businessrelated activities.
- Provide leadership over the design implementation and execution of the development of a Finance Target Operating Model (TOM) for Asia WAM consistent with the new organizational structure for Asia WAM.
- The WAM CFO will be accountable for transformation opportunities to render Asia WAM more efficient and effective.
- Financial reporting across all basis of accounting (IFRS local GAAP) including internal controls related to financial reporting Management reporting including supplementary external disclosures for WAM Asia budgeting strategic planning and analysis for the Asia WAM business.
- Financial (e.g. external financial and client reporting structuring key performance indicator reporting) and regulatory implications of transactions/new asset acquisitions across the WAM products and asset classes.
- Accountability and leadership for the financial due diligence negotiations and financial modelling around potential major deals in collaboration with Corporate Development actively direct and influence related business decisions and strategic direction of Asia WAM.
- Manage risk exposures within board delegated targets.
- Effectively managing the relationships of a wide range of internal and external stakeholders related to Asia WAM matters (e.g. external auditors regulators insurance operating divisions and a wide span of corporate functions).
- Management and development of finance talent for Asia WAM
- Board Director positions as requested by the organization.
Professional Qualifications:
- Approximately 15 years or more of business experience - background in progressively senior finance roles.
- Experience and appreciation for global wealth and asset management industry with particular reference to Asia & Japan markets. Knowledge and experience should ideally span both institutional and retail markets. Knowledge of investment management principles; asset allocation risk assessment portfolio management techniques is a strong asset.
- CA CPA or similar financial accounting designation. CFA MBA and similar designations an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of investment legislation and regulations; multi-jurisdictional Asia experience preferred
- Demonstrated strong technical analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly collaborative fully developed relationship management skills able to work across boundaries and manage through influence across multiple geographies. Adjusts style and approach to accommodate local / regional cultural norms.
- Ability to motivate direct coach and develop professional level staff
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and other relevant financial reporting standards complex asset accounting structuring reporting requirements investment trading products and terminology
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills for senior audiences (internal & external)
- Expert negotiation and influencing skills
