The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing machine learning artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding processing and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to perform work in the field of far-field speech processing. This position focuses on developing machine learning frameworks that enable robots to navigate complex human environments and build longitudinal relationships which require personalization.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Modeling of social interaction
  • Research and design multi-modal foundation models to enhance robot autonomy social perception and collaborative decision making
  • Design and build machine learning algorithms and frameworks for robots to follow
  • Research evaluation methods
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science AI Machine Learning Computer Engineer or a related field.
  • Strong background in machine learning and machine learning frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks
  • A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
