An Outstanding-rated secondary school in Gloucester is seeking an experienced and committed SENCO to join its senior leadership structure from April. This is a key leadership role within the school responsible for driving inclusive practice ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs and maintaining full compliance with statutory SEND requirements.

Leading and developing the schools SEND provision across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 where applicable)
Overseeing the identification assessment and monitoring of pupils with additional needs
Managing EHCP processes annual reviews and external agency coordination
Line managing teaching assistants and SEND support staff
Working closely with parents carers and external professionals
Ensuring full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding legislation
Supporting staff through training and development to promote inclusive classroom practice
Monitoring the impact of interventions and reporting to senior leaders and Governors
Contributing to whole-school strategic planning as part of the leadership team
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
The National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete)
Proven experience leading or contributing to SEND provision in a secondary setting
Strong knowledge of statutory SEND frameworks and compliance requirements
Excellent communication and leadership skills
The ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on pupil support
A calm empathetic and organised leadership style
