Youll work closely with product frontend and platform teams to deliver scalable reliable services contribute to core infrastructure and help shape backend solutions and best practices within a collaborative inclusive in our Sydney office at World Square just a fiveminute walk from Town Hall youll work in a fun and collaborative environment designed to support creativity and innovation. The office is currently trialling a 9day fortnight giving you every second Friday off to rest recharge and do your best work.A day in the life As a Senior Backend Engineer youll design build and maintain scalable backend services using TypeScript and GraphQL supporting secure and reliable systems that evolve with the business. Youll work closely with product and frontend teams to deliver endtoend solutions manage data across relational and NoSQL databases and write clean welldocumented code that meets high engineering standards. Along the way youll troubleshoot complex issues contribute to code reviews mentor junior engineers and stay across emerging backend technologies to drive continuous Youll NeedExtensive experience in with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven expertise in designing and implementing GraphQL APIs including schema design query optimization and security best experience with cloud-native and serverless technologies on Google Cloud Platform (or similar) such as Cloud Functions Firebase and Cloud in TypeScript writing clear maintainable and scalable of REST APIs with experience migrating or combining REST with GraphQL of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and working in agile development environments and contributing to sprint planning estimation and of caching strategies and tools (e.g. Redis CDN integration) to improve backend designing systems for scalability and fault tolerance in high-traffic understanding of security best practices including authentication (e.g. OAuth JWT) and with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automating deployment and ensuring code qualityLet us sweeten the deal! 9 Day fortnight trial to support your work life balanceSCA GIGs Our internal talent development program helps you cross-skill and grow within Parental Leave 20 weeks of gender-neutral leave to support all Perks Extra leave for your birthday and volunteering plus free and discounted concert and footy tickets.
