JOB TITLE: Certified Nurse Assistant Night Shift
3 Night Shifts
7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Job Summary:
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and supportive service under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The CNA performs delegated tasks to assist patients with daily living activities monitors vital signs monitors patients intake and output and ensures patient comfort and safety according to the patients plan of care while helping to maintain efficient unit operations.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Measures and records vital signs (temperature pulse respiration blood pressure oxygen saturation) and report abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
- Performs routine clinical procedures including blood glucose monitoring blood drain management urinary catheter management and obtaining specimens as assigned.
- Assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living including bathing grooming dressing toileting and feeding as necessary.
- Maintains safe clean and organized patient room following infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist patients with mobility transfers ambulation and positioning to promote comfort and safety.
- Respond promptly to call lights and requests for assistance.
- Report findings or changes in physical mental and emotional conditions to direct nursing staff utilizing appropriate lines of authority and in a timely and effective manner.
- Document necessary records in Electronic Health Record
- Use correct body mechanics when assisting with patient mobility.
- Use budgeted supplies and equipment judiciously.
- Ensures a safe supportive environment for patients and staff.
- Seeks guidance and assistance from the assigned nurse when knowledge base and skill level is in question.
- Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement through hourly patient rounding.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Responsible for personal attendance and punctuality to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations of the department by facility policy.
- Maintains Kansas Nurse Aide Certificate and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in good standing.
- Must complete annual competencies in-service and educational opportunities as required by organization.
- Attends 75% of staff meeting opportunities; completes in-services and educational opportunities as requested.
Qualifications Education Experience and Ability:
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the United States
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the state of Kansas
- One year of CNA experience in an acute care facility or with acute care patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Excellent communication organization and multitasking skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Professional customer service skills and compassionate demeanor.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care as well as basic computer skills to meet documentation standards
- Orthopedic neurological or critical care experience preferred.
Environmental and Physical Requirements:
The employee works in a temperature-controlled environment. Employees should be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting technique several times during their shift. Job requires physical ability for long-term standing occasional sitting crouching kneeling frequent walking reaching with reaching above head and below waist. Job risks include exposure to blood and body fluids (high) contact with chemicals and exposure to infectious must be able to read write and speak English fluently have cognitive skills for math reading filing and sterile technique skills. Communication skills to interact with employees patients families and physicians. Vision for near far & mid-range accommodation. Hearing for low medium and high pitch.
