About The Team

The Centre for Healthy Ageing at Murdoch University is an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to advancing understanding of healthy ageing and strategies to reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Our team brings together experts in exercise science psychology nutrition and neuroscience to design and implement high-quality research that informs interventions and public health strategies.

Your New Role!

This position will be embedded within the Centre and will contribute to a pioneering cohort study examining the relationships between lifestyle factors and cognition during menopausal transition. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic collaborative environment gain experience in managing large-scale human research projects and develop their own research profile within the context of healthy ageing and cognitive health.

This position is offered at full-time (1.0 FTE) capacity; however flexible arrangements may be considered in some circumstances.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Lead the day-to-day management of a cohort study including participant recruitment scheduling and follow-up.
  • Administer cognitive assessments and other study measures.
  • Ensure accurate secure and ethical collection and storage of study data in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Maintain adherence to all ethical regulatory and safety requirements for human research.
  • Assist with data cleaning preliminary analyses and preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to develop independent research questions stemming from the research conducted within the team and contribute to grant applications and academic publications.
  • Work collaboratively with the research team including supervisors PhD candidates and research assistants to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop a scholarly research profile and professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline.

This Fixed Term (2 Years) Full Time (37.5 hours per week) position attracts a remuneration of $100000 $107000 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What youll bring to the role:

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. psychology neuroscience exercise science epidemiology public health).
  • Experience in the coordination of human research studies.
  • Experience administering cognitive assessments or similar psychometric testing.
  • Strong understanding of GCP and ethical conduct in human research.
  • Demonstrated skills in data management including handling sensitive information and maintaining data integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience in scientific writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
