Job Duties

The Facility Clinical Informaticist reports directly to the Chief Quality Officer at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute and is a dotted line to the DBHDS Director of Clinical Informatics Program. This position supports clinicians and administration in maximizing the effective efficient and safe use of the EHR and other health IT technology by proficient users at the facility. Acting as a key liaison between facility healthcare providers administrators local IT Health IT analysts and vendors this role supports stakeholders in the implementation and use of health IT solutions particularly EHRs throughout the system design lifecycle.

This position facilitates the integration of people and processes with EHR workflows while supporting the development of facility and system-level policies and procedures. By focusing on health IT adoption supporting clinicians and driving innovations this role aims to improve patient outcomes operational efficiency and user satisfaction while reducing variation to enhance quality and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience working as a Registered Nurse.
Current and in good standing Registered Nurse license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement is accepted.
Working knowledge/experience of behavioral and medical health science care delivery.
Clinical & Administrative Workflows: Strong understanding of healthcare systems patient care processes and facility operations.
Health IT Expertise: Proficient in EHR systems health information exchange and regulatory standards (HIPAA CMS Joint Commission).
Data & Analytics: Skilled in data integration quality improvement analytics and tools.
Change & Project Management: Experienced in technology adoption process mapping and applying project management principles.

This position will also include:
Technical Skills: Ability to facilitate design customize and optimize EHR workflows; knowledge of system lifecycle and downtime procedures.
Communication & Facilitation: Excellent verbal/written communication meeting management and stakeholder engagement.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking for workflow analysis troubleshooting and prioritizing requests independently.
Collaboration & Leadership: Credible leader and ethical team player; effective in cross-functional teams and driving change.
Compliance & Standards: Clear understanding of regulatory requirements and evidence-based best practices.
Adaptability & Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Patient-Centric Focus: Empathy for clinician and patient needs to improve care and satisfaction.
