Job Summary

This role supports the daily operations of an orthopedic office by managing surgical schedules communicating with patients and clinical teams and ensuring all pre- and post-operative requirements are completed accurately and on time. It requires strong administrative skills attention to detail and excellent patient service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and maintain all orthopedic surgical scheduling in collaboration with providers operating room and other departments
  • Communicate clearly with patients families and clinical teams regarding surgery dates pre-operative instructions and follow-up appointments
  • Receive and review pre-operative paperwork for accuracy and completeness including insurance and medical information
  • Create coordinate and schedule pre-operative interviews and clearances as needed Notify vendors ancillary departments and specialty reps of equipment or implant needs
  • Maintain accurate records of all scheduled surgeries and promptly update changes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Notify internal and external services (e.g. Coumadin Clinic imaging PT) of schedule updates or cancellations
  • Provide administrative and communication support to the orthopedic team as assigned
  • Adhere to all safety confidentiality and quality standards in accordance with hospital policies

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School/GED

  • 1 years of experience in ALL of the following:

    • Medical Assistant

    • Healthcare Administration

  • 1 years of experience in ANY of the following:

    • Allscripts Enterprise EHR

    • Allscripts Professional EHR

    • Other EMR

  • 1 years of experience in ANY of the following:

    • Medical Terminology

    • Orthopedic Procedures

    • Insurance Authorization

  • ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications:

    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)

    • American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS)

    • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)




Required Skills:
