Job Summary

We are looking for a business professional with expertise in import/export regulatory requirements and a solid understanding of cross-border customs compliance. This individual contributor role will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) providing guidance and expertise to the Weyerhaeuser business.

  • This individual is responsible for meeting all import requirements while exceeding customer expectations. They will identify contain and resolve any import-related shipping delays. Additionally they are accountable for managing import KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and implementing long-term corrective actions to minimize unnecessary delays and costs. They will also provide recommendations for the Trade Compliance Manager based on trends and gaps identified in KPIs and other management reports.

  • Assist in developing necessary import policies procedures standard operating procedures work instructions and training materials. Actively lead and participate in audit-readiness initiatives to comply with both internal and government audit requirements.

  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong internal and external working relationships and partnerships including procurement manufacturing leaders supply chain team members customs brokers and international freight forwarders. Utilizes sound judgment to independently highlight and escalate potential issues effectively.

  • Understanding product-level tariff and non-tariff barriers is essential including the correct assignment of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and the role of Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) in relation to import requirements regulations and policies. Experience working with the CBP Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).

  • Knowledge of customs regulations government mandates and trends that may affect Weyerhaeusers current and future international trade operations. Demonstrated experience in reviewing and auditing trade compliance documentation and processes. Previous experience with post-summary corrections and protests. Familiarity with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Value Reconciliation program.

  • Reviewing applying and validating requirements of the Lacey Act. Experience in qualifying imported products for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Recommend and assist with the implementation and training of appropriate trade compliance program initiatives in alignment appropriate business strategies and objectives.

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Supply Chain Management or a related field.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in trade compliance or a related area.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in global logistics is preferred.

  • A customs broker license is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and ERP systems such as SAP are essential.

  • Experience with ACE or other agency products related to import or export compliance is also required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Proven skills in interpersonal relations and teamwork.

  • Ability to effectively influence and drive trade compliance operations across a multi-mill and manufacturing environment in the U.S. and Canada.

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program and we are targeting a salary range of $69396-$104095 based on your level of skills qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program which offers a cash bonus targeting 5%of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of addition after being employed for six months eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
