Wage/Hour Status:Nonexempt
Pay Rate: $17 Per Hour
This position is grant funded and continuation is dependent upon program need satisfactory performance and availability of grant funds.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The instructional aide works under the supervision of a site supervisor or classroom instructor. The instructional aide may provide one-on-one instruction at the instructors discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient organizational interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in keyboarding data entry word processing and file management.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred)
Experience:
- Previous clerical office and customer service experience preferred but not required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Duties
- Assist students with supplemental coursework per teacher assignment and suggestion.
- Assist instructor in completion of student records.
- Follow the directions of the instructor or program coordinator and work as an effective member of the instructional team to ensure the success of all students.
- Carry out the preparation of instructional materials for use by the instructor.
- Assist instructor in providing individual support for students and in checking for understanding of instructional materials.
- Organize use and maintain supplies materials and equipment.
- Assist in providing community and social service referrals and support for students.
- Assist instructor in the evaluation and documentation of student progress.
- Use appropriate assessments and teaching materials as assigned by instructor and/or coordinator.
- Attend program meetings and professional development activities.
- Assist students in the proper use of classroom equipment where appropriate.
- Show respect for cultural differences.
Record Keeping
- Assist instructor in implementing recording and monitoring student educational plan.
- Assist instructor in administering scoring and evaluating diagnostic tests.
- Assist instructor in preparing student folders and maintaining records of student progress.
- Assist instructor in collecting data for reports.
- Understand and use the TEAMS data system.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions
