Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Records and Information Management (RIM) Office within Procurement Servicesis looking for a CO-OP Student to support the planning and implementation of various projects initiatives and daily operations. You will report to the Program Manager Policies & Forms.

What will I be doing

  • Support RIM operations and projects by assisting with records classification file reviews archiving digitization of enterprise records and the development/improvement of RIM policies procedures frameworks and guidelines.
  • Contribute to research and analysis activities including gathering RIM related data from internal and external sources analyzing and preparing options or recommendations for team initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of RIM documentation and reporting such as briefing notes dashboards KPIs financial summaries presentations and other materials used for decision making and project oversight.
  • Provide administrative and project coordination support for the RIM team including meeting coordination drafting communications (letters memos) maintaining team resources and supporting project roadmaps and business continuity initiatives.
  • Create and support training communications and stakeholder engagement materials including PowerPoint decks SharePoint site updates and other learning resources to improve awareness accessibility and understanding of RIM practices across business units.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

  • Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution.
  • Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment.
  • Must be enrolled in Archives Records and Information Management Public Administration Political Science Finance Project Management Operations Management Human Resources Communications IT programs or similar program at a post-secondary institution or enrolled in a full-time accredited co-op program in order to be considered for this position.
  • Strong written oral communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Experience in designing and creating online educational tools would be considered an asset.
  • Competence in using software such as Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with LEAN methodologies and mindset would be considered an asset.
  • Be a self-starter with excellent work ethic and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Previous experience working within a business environment is preferred.
  • A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of theory principles and practices of risk management.
  • Ability to work with and assist other co-workers with various projects.
