About This Opportunity

We are seeking an interdisciplinary clinical researcher with a passion for transforming paediatric persistent pain services through the integration of creative arts approaches. This part-time opportunity is ideally suited to an active paediatric clinician wishing to complement and enhance their ongoing clinical practice through research.

As a Research Fellow (Level B) you will contribute to advancing research in paediatric persistent pain and creative artsinformed practice further developing your expertise and strengthening your national research profile. This research-focused academic role includes responsibility for managing service and engagement activities as well as contributing to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Develop and lead an impactful research program in paediatric persistent pain health arts and education producing high-quality outputs securing and managing competitive funding (including as Chief Investigator) collaborating on joint projects applying best-practice methodologies and contributing to knowledge translation and potential commercialisation.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Demonstrate an emerging track record in supervising clinical researchers and Higher Degree by Research students fostering researcher capability through effective feedback and mentoring facilitating engagement opportunities managing staff performance across the employee lifecycle and resolving issues in line with University policies.

  • Citizenship and Service: Model UQ values through mentoring and collaboration contribute to internal leadership governance and committee service support unit operations as required and actively build external partnerships with industry government and professional bodies to strengthen engagement and impact.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in paediatric persistent pain.

  • Demonstrated contemporary clinical expertise in paediatric pain.

  • An emerging research profile in paediatric pain and creative arts with a developing national reputation.

  • A growing track record of publications in respected refereed journals and presentations at academic conferences.

  • Evidence of contributing to the successful development acquisition and management of external research funding.

  • Experience contributing to internal service roles alongside active engagement with relevant external professional or industry activities.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks which may include verification of the right to work in Australia qualifications professional registration (e.g. AHPRA) and other role-specific requirements such as mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
