PlandirectimplementprogramspoliciesandproceduresfortheDepartmentofBiomedicalSciences that ensures the integration of scientifically based outcome evaluated clinical knowledge and skills biomedical sciences and osteopathic principles and practices for predoctoral and/or postdoctoral students provide service to the university and professional communities and engage in innovative scholarship and research to advance medical knowledge.
PrincipalAccountabilities/Responsibilities:
- ProvideoversightanddirectionfortheDepartmentofBiomedicalSciencesfacultyandstaffin planning developing and implementing the Colleges curriculum
- Collaboratewithclinicalservicestobestalignbiomedicalcurriculumwithcurrentorevolving clinical services.
- Provide oversight and direction for the education and instruction of medical students and other healthcareprofessionstudentswhileprovidingmentorshipandmotivationforlearningresearch and scholarly activity in classroom environments clinical settings active learning groups laboratory experience and research opportunities.
- SuperviseandevaluatetheperformanceoftheDepartmentofBiomedicalSciencesfacultyand staff annually or as indicated by policy report evaluations to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs make recommendations for discipline promotion and recognition of faculty and developacultureofexcellencecontinuousimprovementandadvancementforeachofthefaculty members.
- Demonstrateandrolemodelanongoingabilitytoworkcooperativelywithcolleaguessupervisors and support staff.
- Plan develop and manage the Department of Biomedical Sciences budget to allow the departmenttoimplementeducationalprogramsfortheCOMensureeffectiveandefficient operational functions and procedures consistent with established college policies.
- Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its missionandvisionthoughteachingacademicadministrativeduties(course/systemcoordinator) providing patient care and community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.
- AdvancetheprestigeoftheUniversityandCollegethroughadvancementofandavocationforits mission and vision.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum: Terminaldegree(DoctorofOsteopathicMedicineMedicalDoctorPhDEdD)
Experience
Minimum: Aminimumoffive(5)yearsexperienceinteachingandacademicleadershipinamedicaleducation setting. Demonstratedleadershipandproductivityintheareasofclinicalorprofessionalservicescholarly activity medical research or education.
Desired: Sevenyears(7)academicexperienceasafulltimefacultymemberataCollegeofOsteopathicMedicine or seven years (7) experience as a full time faculty member in a Graduate Medical Education program. Demonstratedleadershipproductivityandadministrativeexperienceinclinicalprofessionalresearchor educational settings.
Licensure Registration Certification
Minimum: Goodstandingwithallregulatoryandgovernmentalboardsandagencies. Eligible for coverage by colleges malpractice insurer if applicable. PhysiciansmusthavewithcurrentBoardCertificationbyAOAor ABMS. Physiciansmusthaveanactivemedicallicense.
