The Department

The Kinesiology and Health Sciences department is part of the School of Health and is located in the main campus building in Grande Prairie. Within the department we offer a Kinesiology Diploma Bachelor of Kinesiology (UT) and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (UT).

The Role

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Instructor in exercise physiology to join our academic team. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality undergraduate teaching curriculum development and student mentorship within the program. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about applied and theoretical aspects of human and exercise physiology. This position will include in person lectures and labs during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters for the following courses:

  • PE1015 Essentials of Human Physiology
  • PE1030 Integrative Human Physiology
  • PE2000 Exercise Physiology

This is a full-time sessional (leave replacement) position from August 15 2026 to April 30 2027. There may also be the opportunity to teach a part-time sessional course for the Spring 2027 session from approximately May 1 2027 to June 30 2027. Please note that instruction will be in-person and this is not a remote position. Relocation expenses will be reimbursed for the successful candidate as per appropriate policies.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Masters in Kinesiology or a related field. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Candidates must havea Masters in a Kinesiology or related teaching in post-secondary environment is preferred.
  • Candidates will lead exercise physiology labs activities in our new Kinesiology and Health Sciences Laboratory which requires the ability to use and maintain equipment such as metabolic cartsand fitness testing and monitoring devices.
  • Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g. videoconferencing D2L) are desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Highly qualified faculty who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners.
  • Willingness to work with and support the Teaching & Learning Centre.
  • Student Focused.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • A high level of integrity professionalism and accountability.

Professional certifications such as CSEP ACSM CSCS AKA or similar are considered an asset.
