The Health and Safety Advisor champions safety across all OTG construction this role youll ensure compliance with regulations conduct site inspections deliver safety training and lead incident reporting and investigations. Youll maintain accurate safety documentation promote awareness through meetings and campaigns and support emergency response planning. Collaborate with project teams to drive continuous safety improvements and uphold the highest standards for employees and contractors.
The salary range for this position is $80000 CAD - $100000 CAD plus additional benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all OTG construction sites comply with local health and safety regulations codes and industry standards.
Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites equipment and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Safety Training: Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for employees subcontractors and suppliers emphasizing safe work practices and procedures.
Incident Reporting: Facilitate incident reporting and investigation processes including near-miss reporting and work with teams to implement corrective actions.
Safety Documentation: Maintain accurate safety records including incident reports safety inspection findings and training records and prepare reports for review.
Safety Communication: Promote safety awareness by facilitating safety meetings toolbox talks and safety campaigns to engage employees in safety initiatives.
Emergency Response: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans ensuring employees are adequately trained in response procedures.
Safety Improvement: Identify opportunities for safety improvement provide recommendations and collaborate with project teams to implement safety enhancements.
Contractor Safety: Evaluate the safety performance of subcontractors and suppliers ensuring they meet OTGs safety standards.
Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations codes and best practices and communicate relevant updates to project teams.
Qualifications :
- A Bachelors degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health and safety roles preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations codes and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence others in safety initiatives.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
