Senior Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot / Cloud-Native)
Location: Nürnberg (Hybrid)
Salary:performance-based bonus
Our client is a fast-growing IT services & consulting company specialising in cloud-native architectures DevOps and infrastructure automation. Founded around 3 years ago they work on complex high-impact digitalisation projects for enterprise and public-sector clients including federal institutions.
The company is profitably funded through client projects offers strong stability and has ambitious growth plans over the next 24 months. Youll join a small high-performing team with flat hierarchies modern tooling and real influence over technical direction.
The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer youll help design and build highly available cloud-native backend systems using Java (Spring Boot / Quarkus). Youll work closely with Architects Product and DevOps in an end-to-end ownership model from design through to production on Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
Design & build scalable backend services (Java / Spring Boot / Quarkus)
Co-own architecture (CQRS event-driven systems async patterns)
Build deploy & operate services on Kubernetes
Own CI/CD pipelines (GitOps automated testing)
Ensure observability (OpenTelemetry Prometheus tracing)
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product QA & DevOps
Requirements
Must-haves:
5 years Java backend experience (Spring Boot in production)
Experience with high-availability / mission-critical systems
Kubernetes in live environments
REST APIs SQL Hibernate/JPA Docker CI/CD
Nice-to-haves:
GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) Terraform/Helm
Kafka or event-driven systems
Observability stacks (Prometheus Grafana OpenTelemetry)
