Working closely with the leadership team for the Securities and Payments business on the CHESS Program including work on the CHESS Replacement Project and on Current CHESS your role will involve leading regulatory engagement with ASIC and the RBA and at times international regulatory agencies (RBNZ CFTC) in relation to these projects.

Your Team

You will be part of the projects arm of the central Regulatory Engagement Team within the Risk Division of ASX. However your day-to-day work will involve working closely with leaders within the Securities and Payments business on the above-mentioned projects.

Working closely with the leadership team for the Securities and Payments business you will lead ASXs regulatory engagement for critical market infrastructure projects including the CHESS Replacement Project and Current this role you will act as a key point of contact between ASX and its regulators and provide trusted regulatory advice to senior leaders across the CHESS Program.

Your responsibilities will include:

Regulatory engagement and strategy

  • Lead and coordinate regulatory engagement with ASIC and the RBA and where required international regulatory agencies including RBNZ and CFTC in relation to the CHESS Program.
  • Drive timely transparent and effective engagement with regulators aligned to key project and program milestones in accordance with ASXs Regulatory Engagement Policy and Regulatory Engagement Principles.
  • Proactively engage with regulatory agencies to understand their areas of focus information requirements and expectations throughout the lifecycle of the projects.

Advisory support to leadership and project teams

  • Provide regulatory advice to the Securities and Payments leadership and project working groups on the CHESS Program including regulatory areas of focus emerging risks and issues and matters requiring regulatory awareness or escalation.
  • Advise on the nature timing and content of information provided to regulators to ensure that material developments and risks are communicated in a transparent and timely manner.
  • Attend Strategic Steering Group meetings and other key project forums to provide regulatory insight guidance and updates.

Regulatory meetings and communications

  • Coordinate and prepare for meetings with regulatory agencies including the development of clear highquality prebriefings for internal attendees and wellstructured materials for regulatory meetings.
  • Represent ASX in regulatory meetings take accurate meeting notes and ensure timely circulation and follow-up of actions arising from those meetings.
  • Manage the timely provision of key project and program documentation to regulators including risks and issues registers third-party reviews (including assurance reviews) stakeholder consultation materials and written responses to regulatory queries.

Go live and critical project milestoneslive and critical project milestones

  • Lead and support regulatory engagement during key technology milestones and go live events ensuring regulators are kept appropriately informed at regular intervals during critical implementation periods.

Reporting and governance

  • Contribute to Executive and Board reporting and briefings prepared by the central Regulatory Engagement Team including reporting on regulatory themes areas of interest and issues arising from the CHESS Program.

Must have

  • Demonstrated experience in senior regulatory engagement or regulatory affairs roles and/or experience working within a regulatory organisation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex regulatory technical and risk-based issues to senior executives Boards and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong experience in financial markets regulation including direct engagement with regulators in Australia and/or other jurisdictions.
  • Proven experience leading stakeholder engagement for complex high-risk or largescale programs or projects.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on largescale regulatory or market infrastructure change programs impacting both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging with multiple regulators across jurisdictions including international regulatory agencies.
  • A strong understanding of the international regulatory landscape for financial market infrastructure.
