DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is a bilingual position involving complex clerical work including interpreting translation typing data entry customer service and the application of independent judgment. You will assist with answering Information & Referral (I&R) telephone line and provide back-up to the Department of Human Services (DHS) reception window. Understand services and responsibilities of each DHS office. Answers routine questions and directs calls and walk-in visits to appropriate individuals/offices within DHS.
You will also perform the following duties:
- Provide training and guidance to clerical staff and function as a lead worker for clerical operations.
- Assist Information & Referral and Crisis Intervention Office with interpretation and translation of documents English/Spanish. This includes scheduled and emergency interpreting for incoming and outgoing phone calls home/field visits and meetings. Maintains detailed documentation of interpreting/translation activities.
- Responsible for daily/monthly/annual reports and data entry for I&R/Crisis Intervention/988. Includes collecting information and follow up with staff for missing data.
- Assist in organizing and updating Crisis Intervention forms and documents in preparation for licensing.
- Attend I&R/Crisis Intervention evening staff meetings (approx. 6 per year) take meeting notes and distribute to staff.
- Determine supply needs and order supplies for I&R/Crisis Intervention and the high-density file room. Assist with tracking I&R budget.
- Responsible for printing and maintaining stock of forms for I&R/Crisis/988.
- Assist with processing Bi-lingual pool requests.
- Assist Aging/AS with Property and Rent Rebate program.
- Coordinate equipment service requests and maintenance work orders for DHS waiting area interview rooms and high-density file room.
- Assist with DHS interview room scheduling through county intranet.
- Serve as back-up to the DHS High Density File Room clerk and may assist with archiving projects.
- Other clerical duties: copying filing archiving distributing mail faxing scanning.
- Participate in formal and informal county office department and state training programs which provide knowledge relative to human services applicable laws procedures and regulations governing the provisions of human services. Required trainings: Bridging the Gap Interpreter Training Mandated Reporter and CSSRS.
- Data entry and problem solving in KEA HCSIS CPR-Web ACYS SAMS and any new information systems that may be developed.
This employee will be responsible for the completion of any other duties as assigned by the employees immediate supervisor Administrator and/or his/her designee.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday - Friday with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerk Typist 2 and educational development to the level of completion of high school; or
- One year of progressively complex clerical typing experience and completion of high school; or
- Six months of moderately complex clerical typing work and completion of a post high school business curriculum; or
- Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledges skills and abilities.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires the selected candidate to be able to read write and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition PA Office of Administration. If contacted you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.
