Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director Corporate Policy Planning and Strategy the Senior Policies and Contracts Specialist provides expertise in the development and review of CancerCare Manitobas (CCMB) contracts and agreements; corporate policies and procedures and provides guidance and oversight of the day-to-day activities. This position will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of files supporting corporate clinic and research operations including providing advice drafting reviewing negotiating and fully executing agreements for CCMB needs and priorities such as clinical trials service agreements master agreements statements of work and amendments.

The Senior Policies and Contracts Specialist will develop and maintain CCMBs corporate policy standards and manage the review cycle in collaboration with internal clinic policy partners.

The incumbent will promote and maintain a positive professional and team-oriented environment demonstrating a commitment to the vision values goals and objectives of CCMB.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in either legal administrative assistance business research administration or a health-care related discipline from an accredited educational institution. A post-secondary degree is considered an asset.

Experience

  • 5 years experience in providing contract review and development in a corporate research or health care environment
  • 2 years experience in the development or analysis of corporate policies and/or procedures
  • 2 years of progressive supervisory experience

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities

  • Practical skills and experience in contract law and negotiations
  • Ability to apply contract knowledge to solve problems and adapt to different situations
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently conduct research and gather information as necessary for policy or contract preparation
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously with appropriate prioritization while balancing the need for quick turnaround within longer-term strategic efforts
  • Understanding of necessary legal and regulatory requirements including the Public Health Information Act (PHIA) the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Regulated Health Professions Act
  • Ability to collaborate and/or lead groups in achieving consensus
  • Knowledge and motivation to plan and monitor assigned tasks coordinate deadlines monitor and communicate progress on contract and policy development and revision
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and a high degree of confidentiality and must be able to exercise independent judgement.

Preferred

  • Direct experience with clinical trial agreements
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset
