DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
The New York Film Academy is seeking a Sound Engineer Technical Assistant for a part-time hourly position for the Post Production department. As a Technical Assistant for New York Film Academy your responsibilities would cover a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.
- Assist Voice Over class sessions supporting Voice Over instruction and handling technical sound issues
- Record Voice Overs for class projects and student reels using industry-standard audio recording equipment.
- ADR/VO Engineer provides support for and runs the Post Production Sound Booth
- Edit/Comp Voice-Over recordings including dialogue cleanup
- Mix Voice-Over recordings adding music and effects to create professional reels
- Manage/record ADR sessions supporting Directors and Talent in capturing performances
- Manage student and class recording session scheduling
- Test setup and maintain ADR/VO studio equipment
- Provide technical advice and troubleshooting for both students and faculty
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient in Avid Pro Tools
- Proficient with real time mixing
- Proficient in dialogue editorial
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with Director and students
- Advanced knowledge of Audio Production and Post Production workflow
- Ability to interact well with instructors talent and directors while keeping to tight deadlines
EXPERIENCE EDUCATION CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelors Degree in Sound Design Film or Communications
- Avid Pro Tools Certification a plus

THE FOLLOWING MACHINES TOOLS EQUIPMENT AND / OR SOFTWARE ARE COMMONLY BUT NOT ALWAYS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS POSITION. ACTUAL MACHINES TOOLS EQUIPMENT AND/ OR SOFTWARE USED WILL VARY.
