The hospital works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions in research and education.
You will join:
- A collegial team of 18 geriatricians
- Dedicated registrars residents and interns
- A stable energetic and genuinely supportive culture
- Diverse specialist career pathways
- Strong undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs
There is also a clear strategic vision to develop an Older Persons Emergency Department geriatrician role.
The Role Aged Care services include:
- 106 inpatient beds across three sites
- 60 acute older persons beds
- 36 subacute GEM beds
- 10 behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia beds
- 12-bed GEM at Home service
- Orthogeriatric shared care (1020 patients)
- Consultative inpatient services
- Outpatient clinics including:
- Memory
- Falls and balance
- Movement disorders
- Geriatric oncology
- Continence and pain
Optional participation in TAZREACH regional outreach clinics is available.
There are also opportunities to pursue research interests and contribute meaningfully to teaching.

Essential Requirements Applicants must:
- Hold specialist registration; or
- Be an IMG on the specialist pathway; or
