The Health and Safety Specialist in Franklin WI will be a key stakeholder for a new 340000 square foot conversion facility that is opening in 2023 and will play an integral part of Saputos strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong history in Wisconsin and are proud to be expanding our footprint in this area.
The Health and Safety Specialist develops and drive the overall safety culture. Drives plant safety and risk programs to ensure safe and accident-free work environment. Implements safety concepts to provide an accident-free workplace. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in safe work practices and procedures. Strong focus on root cause analysis and injury prevention.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
Supports OSHA compliance state and local regulatory compliance.
Leads plant occupational health and safety including Emergency Response SDS safety audits and accident investigations work with other departments with workers compensation Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management.
Perform Job Safety Analysis and recommend process improvements.
Conduct and/or facilitate safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications ie. forklift confined space lockout/tagout and CPR/First Aid training; conduct fire drills; perform new hire and annual safety training. Support site crisis management program and support activities.
Reviews Incident Investigation Report to ensure completeness and that appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence; Facilitate root cause prevention (RCA) for injuries and illnesses.
Support industrial injury/illness full life cycle claim management.
Serves as or obtains safety expertise for the various plant functions in dealings with the OSHA including updates to management on current laws and regulations.
Oversight maintenance and upkeep of the safety reporting systems
Review and recommend modifications as applicable the safety and health training content.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experiences Skills and Qualifications
Two (2) or more years experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferably food manufacturing with major concentration of job duties relating to environmental health and safety.
Associates degree in occupational health & Safety Management Industrial Hygiene or in a related field and/or the equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation claim mitigation and management.
Hands on experience in successfully leading coaching motivating and developing a team environment within safety; strong communication skills customer service skills and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions.
OSHA 30-Hour certification or ability to obtain within 12-months of hire.
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certified; AMR Instructor certification preferred.
Available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate employee environment.
Proven leadership (Team Leading) abilities to be able to influence positive behavior and drive programs and initiatives.
Self-driven initiative to identify areas of opportunity to mitigate risks.
