Meet the team:

The Sensor Design and Characterization group within the Research and Development (R&D) organization is dedicated to the design and development of cutting-edge sensor technologies guiding them from initial concept through to commercialization. These innovations are essential to improving the accuracy reliability and robustness of CGM systems.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experience levels fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment that drives creative problem-solving and breakthrough this role you will drive technical projects spanning sustaining efforts new product development and research initiatives while providing deep domain expertise in sensor substrate/electrode design and characterization.

Where you come in:

  • You will spearhead design enhancements for Dexcoms current sensor electrodes and substrates used in industryleading CGM products supporting continuous improvement initiatives including design specification updates process optimizations and qualification of new vendors.

  • You will serve as the substrate/electrode Subject Matter Expert (SME) for major new product development programs driving the productization of substrate innovations and ensuring seamless integration with other CGM system components such as membranes needles and wearables.

  • You will drive proofofconcept initiatives for innovative electrode designs and sensor architecture prototypes advancing concepts from early exploration to clinical and commercial feasibility.

  • You will develop implement and execute a suite of electrochemical and mechanical test methods to characterize substrate and sensor properties and guide iterative design improvements.

  • You will design and execute benchtop and invivo experiments to evaluate both existing and emerging CGM technologies at the component sensorsubassembly and fullproduct levels.

  • You will apply advanced statistical methods to analyze large datasets and identify the key parameters driving overall product performance.

  • You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams across and beyond R&Das well as external vendorsto efficiently achieve project milestones while proactively managing technical and program interdependencies.

  • You will prepare and deliver presentations and documentation aligned with Design Control requirements to support sensor and substrate design activities throughout the R&D lifecycle.

  • You will partner with intellectual property counsel to develop and document new IP arising from development efforts.

What makes you successful:

  • You havea B.S. M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics Chemistry Chemical Engineering Materials Science and Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • You bring a strong interdisciplinary background in electrochemistry material science and mechanical engineering to guide sensor electrode and substrate design fabrication processes and characterization methodsideally within the medical device industry.

  • You havehands-on experience working in a wet lab environment.

  • You demonstratea strong work ethic excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • You communicate scientific concepts clearly and effectivelyboth verbally and in writingand excel in collaborative cross-functional settings.

  • You have experience in supplier and vendor identification screening and qualification

  • You are proficient in statistical and data analysis tools such as JMP Origin Python MATLAB or R.

  • Experience with SolidWorks COMSOL Multiphysics Abaqus or Ansys is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree ina technical discipline and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Mastersdegree and 2-4 years equivalent industryexperience or a PhD and 0-2 years ofexperience.
