The Team Youll Work With:
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning leads New York Citys efforts to deliver affordable homes protect tenants combat our housing crisis and shape inclusive growth across the five boroughs. Overseeing NYCs housing planning and development agencies the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning creates bold strategies to plan build and preserve homes and neighborhoods that shape a more affordable and livable city.

Agencies and offices reporting to the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning include the New York City Housing Authority Department of Housing Preservation and Development Housing Development Corporation Department of Buildings Department of City Planning Office to Protect Tenants Landmarks Preservation Commission Public Design Commission and Office of Housing Recovery Operations. The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning maintains liaison with the Rent Guidelines Board and the Board of Standards and Appeals.

The Problems Youll Solve:
The Senior Advisor for Real Estate sits at the intersection of real estate development housing policy and public-private partnerships helping advance the Citys housing production and development agenda.

Working under the direction of the Deputy Mayor and Chief of Staff the Senior Advisor will oversee complex real estate initiatives coordinate across agencies and public authorities and help structure and advance major housing and development projects across New York City.

Key Responsibilities:
-Real Estate Transactions & Portfolio Oversight: Oversee a portfolio of major housing and development transactions including affordable housing mixed-income development public-private partnerships and redevelopment of publicly owned sites. Projects may involve complex land use approvals public financing tools and coordination across multiple City agencies and public authorities.
-Strategic Analysis & Executive Advisory: Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of housing initiatives real estate transactions and policy proposals to assess feasibility fiscal impacts and alignment with the Administrations priorities. Provide recommendations to the Deputy Mayor Chief of Staff and senior leadership. This work may include analysis related to zoning actions public financing tools tax incentives and other mechanisms used to support housing production and development.
-Interagency Coordination & Agency Liaison: Serve as liaison between the Deputy Mayors Office and City agencies including New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Office of Management and Budget (OMB) the Law Department and Department of Citywide Administration (DCAS) to advance real estate initiatives resolve issues and ensure alignment on policy goals and timelines. Coordinate with public authorities and regional partners including Empire State Development the Port Authority the MTA Amtrak and major utilities.
-Project & Initiative Management: Oversee housing development initiatives during planning design and approval phases. Track milestones coordinate agency workstreams and ensure projects move forward efficiently.
-Negotiations & Deal Support: Support negotiations with private developers institutional partners and public sector stakeholders to advance complex public-private partnership projects and ensure transactions meet the Citys policy and financial objectives.
-Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with elected officials community stakeholders civic organizations and industry partners regarding major housing and development initiatives. Support communications efforts including public announcements events and stakeholder outreach.
-Policy & Legislative Analysis: Evaluate and advance policy initiatives related to housing production real estate incentives land use and fiscal policy. Coordinate with government affairs teams on City State and Federal legislative priorities.
-Executive Briefings & Strategic Support: Prepare briefing memoranda policy analyses and background materials for senior leadership. Support high-level meetings and respond to inquiries from stakeholders across government and the real estate industry.

About You:
-You have prior experience with financial analysis real estate underwriting or structuring public-private partnerships which is highly desirable.
-You have strong negotiation communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex decision-making involving multiple stakeholders.
-You can quickly synthesize complex financial legal and policy materials and brief senior leadership.
-You have excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree required.
-8 years of experience.

Qualifications :

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative analytic coordinative supervisory or liaison responsibilities

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a states Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question 2 above

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions 1 2 and/or 3 above
