Educational Assistant
Connect Program Primary Location is Dr. George Johnson Middle School
6 hr/ day Educational Assistant 9:00 am 3:30 pm
Ability Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Para Educator Certificate desired
- Relevant training and experience
- Course work in behavior management
- Ability to work with Kindergarten to Grade 6 students who have complex communication and regulation needs
- Experience or training in supporting students with Autism FASD and/or complex trauma
- Knowledge of sensory-informed and regulation-based classroom practices
- Experience using AAC visual supports and structured teaching strategies
- Knowledge and experience with Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions
- Demonstrable computer/technology skills
- Valid drivers license and clean driver abstract
Responsibilities:
- assistance with instruction
- assistance to students (may include dressing feeding toileting)
- facilitating the transport of students between different education sites
- supervising and accompanying students during field trips or off-site work/recreational experiences.
Salary : According to the Collective Agreement
