A high performing and well-resourced secondary school in Leeds is seeking a skilled and practical Design & Technology Technician to support its successful DT department as soon as possible. The department delivers a broad curriculum across Product Design Resistant Materials and engineering-focused projects supported by modern workshops and CAD/CAM facilities.
Practical learning is central to the schools DT provision and the technician will play a crucial role in maintaining equipment preparing materials and ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards.
Preparing materials tools and machinery for practical lessons across KS3KS5
Maintaining and servicing workshop equipment to ensure safe operation
Supporting pupils and teachers during complex practical sessions
Ensuring compliance with workshop health & safety regulations and risk assessments
Managing stock control ordering materials and monitoring budgets
Assisting with GCSE and A Level NEA preparation
Maintaining organised storage systems and safe equipment handling
Supporting displays exhibitions and project showcases
Contributing to continuous improvement of workshop systems and procedures
Previous workshop technical or DT technician experience
Strong understanding of machinery safety and compliance requirements
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Practical problem-solving ability
A proactive and professional attitude
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
