Job Summary
A well-regarded and community-focused secondary school in Manchester is seeking a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join its site team on an immediate basis. This is a vital role within the school ensuring the premises remain safe secure clean and well maintained for pupils staff and visitors.
The school takes great pride in its environment and presentation and the successful candidate will play a central role in maintaining a professional and welcoming setting that supports high-quality teaching and learning.
The Role
Opening and closing the school site daily ensuring full site security
Carrying out routine maintenance minor repairs and general DIY tasks
Conducting regular health & safety checks including fire alarms and emergency lighting
Maintaining accurate compliance logs and maintenance documentation
Supporting contractors on site and overseeing works
Assisting with room setup for events examinations and lettings
Monitoring site security systems and safeguarding procedures
Supporting grounds upkeep and ensuring external areas remain safe and presentable
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous experience in a caretaker site or maintenance role
Strong practical skills and the ability to problem solve independently
Good knowledge of health & safety compliance
A proactive organised and reliable approach
The ability to prioritise workload effectively in a busy school environment
