    Job Description

    Job Title: Community Relations Coordinator

    Salary: $75000 (based on experience education etc.)

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelors degree and prior experience in public relations communications or related field
    2. Excellent verbal writing and technology skills
    3. Expertise and successful experience with social media and on-line communication tools
    4. Expertise and successful experience with multi-agency collaboration
    5. Knowledge of public education especially in the state of Iowa
    6. Knowledge of current events trends and circumstances that could affect the school district
    7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
    8. Physical at time of hire

    Reports to: Superintendent of Schools

    Job Goal:

    To develop and coordinate a district-level community relations program that promotes the education that students receive in the Southeast Polk Community Schools while serving as the point of contact for all non-district entities. The director should also enhance current and future district programs and initiatives through external networks and resources.

    Performance Responsibilities:

    1. Coordinate all district marketing and branding efforts
    2. Collaborate with other district stakeholders to develop implement and consistently evaluate an effective and healthy district communication system
    3. Supervise and coordinate the preparation revision and distribution of all district publications (electronic or otherwise)
    4. Coordinate all media interest in the district and provide reasonable response to media requests
    5. Plan and supervise periodic polling of public opinion
    6. Speak at public meetings on issues of general or specific pertinence to the district
    7. Plan and coordinate district events public meetings and the districts registration process
    8. Develop and implement school/business partnership
    9. Plan and direct crisis communications in the district
    10. Maintain district website
    11. Perform other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands:

    1. Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
    2. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with frequent interruptions.

    Terms of Employment:

    1. Twelve-month employment.
    2. Salary and fringe benefits based on skills and experience.
