Job Description
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Manages project team to meet established deadlines for multiple concurring projects.
Education and Experience Required:
First Level University degree. 4-6 years in program management roles or in like roles/businesses.
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of key Services operational policies processes and methodologies applicable to project management.
Speaks with authority to most layers of depth related to project management methods.
Gather information from multiple stakeholders within the team to create detailed reports on notebook desktop dock or monitor teardowns.
Ability to track multiple timelines across projects to ensure delivery of reporting is on time.
Collaborate with external teams to provide additional detailed feedback on reports before submission.
Work with pre-defined templates and update as needed to minimize complexity in reporting while ensuring all relevant details are conveyed.
Co-work with teams worldwide to gather additional report details and include in reports. Drive external teams to deliver on schedule to ensure no delays for delivery.
About the Role
Client Workstations Division is expanding its Competitive Teardown Program - a high-visibility initiative that directly informs product design competitive positioning and sales strategy.
We are seeking a Project / Program Manager to own and scale this program end-to-end. This role operates at the intersection of engineering product management and sales enablement transforming complex teardown data into strategic insights that influence both product roadmaps and customer conversations.
This position has strong executive visibility and presents monthly updates to General Manager staff.
Key Responsibilities
Competitive Teardown Program Ownership
- Manage competitive teardown activities end-to-end
- Coordinate teardown execution with global labs (Houston and Taipei) and engineering teams
- Operate within the overall teardown budget
- Manage increasing teardown volume as the program scales
Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Synthesis
- Consolidate fragmented competitive inputs into a cohesive actionable strategy
- Partner with engineering to analyze:
- Design differences
- Cost structures
- Out-of-box user experience
- Monitor competitor releases:
- Initial launch alerts
- Follow-up analysis (30 days post-launch) including specs pricing and positioning
Strategic Deliverables
Translate technical findings into:
- Product insights
- Customer insights
- Sales enablement tools (e.g. competitive battle cards)
Develop guidance to help teams:
- Position HP offerings vs. competitors
- Address competitive objections
- Strengthen field sales conversations
Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide monthly updates to General Manager staff
- Work cross-functionally with:
- Engineering (global)
- Product Management
- Sales Enablement
- Operate in a highly visible role with meaningful influence on strategic decisions
Qualifications
Required:
- 4 6 years of experience in program or project management
- Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives
- Experience working with engineering teams and technical data
- Strong ability to synthesize detailed information into clear executive-ready insights
- Excellent organizational communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience engaging senior leadership
Preferred:
- Competitive analysis or market intelligence background
- Experience in hardware workstation or technology product environments
- Experience developing sales-facing or executive-facing materials from technical inputs
- Experience working across global teams and time zones
Work Model
- Hybrid role based in Houston TX
- 3 days per week onsite (candidate may select preferred days; common onsite days are Tues/Wed/Thurs)
