Job Summary
As a Commodities Structuring Associate in the Commodities Structuring team you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing commodity-linked solutions for corporate and institutional clients. You will work closely with partners across banking sales trading risk legal and research to support clients in meeting their complex financing and risk management objectives. You will have the opportunity to leverage your analytical skills and market knowledge to drive impactful transactions and contribute to the growth of our commodities business.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the development structuring and execution of commodity transactions including prepayments inventory financing and structured derivative solutions.
- Provide comprehensive support throughout the transaction lifecycle including due diligence negotiation execution and ongoing transaction management.
- Serve as the main point of contact for quantitative analyses supporting senior team members and synthesising outputs into client-ready materials.
- Collaborate with control functions to obtain required approvals and anticipate transaction risks particularly those specific to physical commodities.
- Drive dialogue and supporting analyses to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Engage with clients to understand their specific needs and objectives designing bespoke solutions that align with their risk tolerance and financial goals.
- Provide market information and transaction ideas to meet clients risk management and/or physical objectives.
- Partner with colleagues across functions to deliver seamless client service and support business growth.
Required Qualifications Capabilities and Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Previous experience in the commodity sector including energy metals or agricultural sales and marketing.
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts into simple terms and actionable steps.
- Proficiency in Excel ideally with asset-level modelling experience.
- Expertise in PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information concisely and clearly.
- Strong team player who collaborates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the deal process.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications Capabilities and Skills
- Experience with physical commodities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of credit and market risk.
- Ability to work independently and drive processes with minimal oversight.
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness propriety knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
